Won't You Be My Neighbor? Mr. Rogers Inspires Twitter Posititivity With #143DayinPA.
"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'" - Fred Rogers
With the world steadily proving to be the flaming red hot dumpster fire we have all deemed it to be in the past few years, what with pandemics, political unrest, war, ect, it's not always easy to find the good in the bad - but some days, it's really important to try.
Happy #143DayinPA.
Inspired by the sage advice of the popular children's show host Mr. Rogers, the numbers one four and three represent the number of letters in the words I-LOVE-YOU: 1-4-3, a special code he used to make viewers at home feel like they mattered.
Pennsylvania, the home state of Mr. Rogers, has decided to expand on his belief of always being a good neighbor by starting the 143 Day of Kindness, an initiative to spread kindness and good deeds to your fellow person while appreciating ourselves in the process.
The hashtag has become a trending topic on Twitter amongst the litany of celebrity divorce gossip and political despair, leaving a small glimmer of hope that there is still some decency out there.
If you would like to participate, simply stop by their website and Tweet #143DayinPA and you can keep track with their handy kindness tracker.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to call my mother.
