It has been announced that Goodfellas actor Ray Liotta has sadly passed away.

The famed actor died in his sleep while shooting the film Dangerous Waters in the Dominican Republic at the age of 67, as first reported by Deadline today. He is survived by his fiancee Jacy Nittolo and daughter Karsen.

Liotta rose to notoriety when he starred as Henry Hill in the 1990 true-life mobster film Goodfellas directed by Martin Scorsese. His portrayal of Hill showed an abundant range of acting as he would turn from a calm, collected family man to a manic drug-addled mobster at the drop of a hat. Working alongside the seasoned Robert De Niro and the ever-engaging Joe Pesci, Liotta's theatrical prowess shined throughout.

With his A-List abilities and piercing glance, Liotta also starred in several other notable films such as playing baseball great Shoeless Joe Jackson in the Kevin Costner hit Field of Dreams and Gary Figgis in Cop Land. Recently, Liotta appeared in The Many Saints of Newark and Marriage Story. He had several projects in post-production, including the Elizabeth Banks-helmed Cocaine Bear.

Not only known for playing heavies, his ability to take his tough-guy persona for a walk also made Ray Liotta even more formidable in several comedic roles, where he provided his gruffly soothing voice to The Simpsons, Family Guy, and even played a caricature of himself in Jerry Seinfeld's Bee Movie. Other than just animated work, he also appeared in two Muppet films, and several sitcoms, including Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Ray Liotta's passing is a true tragedy, though his legacy will live on through his bevy of amazing roles and memorable characters.
