Yesterday, Deadline announced that Netflix is adapting the hit 2017 PlayStation 4 game Horizon Zero Dawn into a new series. The latest property in a boom of video game film adaptations, Horizon Zero Dawn is in early development at the streaming giant.

According to Deadline, the Horizon Zero Dawn series is about "an ambitious and clever, but outcast hunter named Aloy who seeks to uncover the past."

Taking place in the 31st century in a post-apocalyptic United States, between the states of Colorado, Wyoming and Utah, Aloy will fight large robotic creatures called the Machines that dominate the Earth, to find the answers she seeks.

Horizon Zero Dawn is largely successful, receiving nominations for numerous awards, including Game of The Year, Best Narrative, and Best Game Direction at The Game Awards 2017. The game's followup, Horizon Forbidden West, was released earlier this year, in February.

Horizon Zero Dawn is Netflix's latest attempt to adapt video games into series. Other attempts by the streaming service include the upcoming Resident Evil series, a Bioshock movie in development, The Cuphead Show, and a Castlevania series.

PlayStation has also been busy turning their video game IP into flim, with HBO's The Last of Us, Amazon's God of War, Peacock's Twisted Metal, and a Ghosts of Tsushima film all in the works.
