The Trailer For Disney+'s 'Willow' Seems To Brings Back All Of The Magic Of The Original 80s Cult Classic
As a child of the 80s, I can vividly remember the wonder of going to the movies with my parents and watching the sword and sorcery adventure Willow.
Co-written/produced by George Lucas and directed by Ron Howard, this one-off film starred Warwick Davis who played Wicket, the cuddly Ewok from Return of the Jedi, and a super-fit Val Kilmer being as charming as he was hilarious.
The film was about an amateur sorcerer, Willow, who finds his destiny in protecting an orphaned baby who is prophesied for greatness.
The film fast became a cult classic - So, audiences being the nostalgia hounds society has conditioned us to be, Disney+ decided to continue the adventure of Willow, with a new series that takes place decades after the original - and today they dropped the first trailer.
Bringing back Davis as the titular hero, now a seasoned sorcerer, Willow is called back into action by a group of young adventurers to thwart the magical evils of their world once more.
With updated digital effects, far from the superimposed stop-motion monsters of its predecessor, this new iteration feels like they have gotten the tone pretty on point, with a mix of light-hearted characters with a Dungeons and Dragons aesthetic.
There is little in terms of the storyline revealed in the trailer, but so far, so good.
Co-starring on the show are Erin Kellyman, Tony Revolori, Talisa Garcia, and Ralph Ineson, just to name a few.
Willow is set to stream on Disney+ on November 30.
