'Stranger Things 4': Show's Creators Regret Killing Off THIS Character Too Soon
"Stranger Things" season 4 volume I continues to thrive on Netflix's trending shows as it presents another perspective and characters throughout the show. Despite the show's success, creators The Duffer Brothers revealed that they regretted doing something at first.
WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD
During the first episode, Joseph Quinn's character Eddie Munson had a brief moment with a cheerleader named Chrissy Cunningham (Grace Van Dien). Many fans were gushing as they thought this would start a potential love story between the two.
However, her character was immediately killed off during "Chapter One: The Hellfire Club," and many viewers were devastated.
Fans are not alone, as the show's creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, were also disappointed to the point that they regret putting it out on the series.
In an interview with TVLine, the Duffer Brothers said they always have those "what have we done" moments.
They revealed that the scene between Chrissy and Eddie, a drug dealing in the woods, was shot late compared to another sequence.
At the time, Ross said they knew the cheerleader's character would not last.
"The scene came alive in a way that was just so beautiful, and so much of that was Joe and Grace," Matt said, crediting the two actors for their performance. (via Yahoo! Entertainment)
He added that it was one of the fortunate scenes where production was able to roll two cameras simultaneously, and Joe Quinn was doing many things that were made up, leading Grace to react genuinely.
In the end, Chrissy was killed in episode one as her soul was taken by the ghost of Vecna while staying at Eddie's house.
Is Chrissy Cunningham Coming Back to the Show?
The Duffer Brothers teased fans that they would work with the actress again anytime in the future as many fans loved her character on the show.
Matt said they had a similar experience before when they killed a character named Bob in season 2.
"I didn't want to do that. We had fallen in love with both the character and Sean Astin. And Sean didn't want to die. Winona Ryder didn't want him to die," he said.
He then assured fans that they would "find something else to do with Grace," similar to what they did to Sean.
Season 4 Volume II will be available for streaming this July 1.
