Samantha to Return to 'And Just Like That' - But Will She Be Played By Kim Cattrall?
And just like that, word has started to spread that Samantha may be making a comeback on the Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That.
The first season of And Just Like That brought three of the four main members of the Sex and the City squad back, as we watched them explore city during life in their 50s. Carrie, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Miranda, played by Cynthia Nixon, and Charlotte, played by Kristin Davis, reunited for a new, modern take on the well-loved show.
Missing from this group of women was the one and only Samantha.
Samantha, played by Kim Cattrall, was known for being the most adventerous of the group. Her absence on the reboot was explained through the story by a professional falling out between herself and Carrie - an explanation that mirrors the realtiy of the situation in many ways.
Cattrall and Parker were known not to have gotten along very well. Both privately and on social media, the world has caught momentary glimpses of the rift between them. Furthermore, while And Just Like That season one was being filmed, Cattrall was starring on the new How I Met Your Mother spin-off How I Met Your Father. It had been stated in no uncertain terms that she would not be returning to the show.
Now, however, some uncertainty has crept back into the conversation.
Amid talks of the highly-anticipated second season of this show, it has been rumored that the character Samantha may make a reappearance in the lives of the original friendgroup.
The showrunner, Michael Patrick King, has confirmed that Samantha will be returning for this next season. However, what remains unknown is whether or not this character will be played by Cattrall - or if another lucky actor will step into the iconic role.
We will keep you up to date as more information comes to light.
