Melissa McCarthy has been a host on "Saturday Night Live" many times in the past, and she also appeared in numerous comedy skits along with its permanent cast members. However, there was one nerve-wracking moment for her that she would never forget.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the TV star wore the jacket of her comedy hero Chris Farley in an episode of the show in 2015.

At the time, the famed NBC series was celebrating its 40th anniversary when she was tasked to parody the comedian under the name of Matt Foley.

Speaking to Andy Cohen in a SiriusXM interview, the actress revealed that it was Farley's exact jacket that production clipped back on her.

"They're like, 'We're gonna take it in, but we don't wanna damage it. And we're gonna do all this,'" she said.

The TV star then revealed that it felt "really wild" to get fully dressed because everyone on set needed a moment to absorb that she is the late comedian.

She then recalled the time before coming through the door, saying she was so nervous. Lucky for her, a "sweet stage manager" came up and asked her if she was alright.

"My legs were bouncing to the point where I couldn't, I was holding onto the door. And I was like, 'I don't know if I can get the handle open.' Because I couldn't, I was not in control of my body. And I've never done that before. I was just rattled," she added.

To calm her nerves down before doing the sketch, McCarthy called her husband, Ben Falcone, and asked for advice.

His words of wisdom surprised her as he told his wife that Farley wouldn't do that halfway and neither should she.

"Come through that door like a train. Do it to make him proud," her husband said.

The fictional character of Matt Foley was co-created by Farley and Bob Odenkirk when they were doing improv before. They later introduced him to "Satuday Night Live."

The character's debut was on May 3, 1993. Matt Foley heavily relied on physical comedy which had fans laughing from their seats.

Chris Farley, unfortunately, died at the age of 33 on December 18, 1997. He was found dead by his younger brother in his apartment in Chicago, Illinois.
