Will Smith Planning Big Hollywood Comeback After Chris Rock Slap [DETAILS]
Will Smith is eager to reclaim his career following his infamous slap at Chris Rock a few months ago.
He has been criticized and ridiculed for what he did in front of hundreds of people and millions watching on television.
Rock made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith's, shorn head, but the "Men In Black" actor is apparently plotting a long-awaited comeback to the big screen with a sequel.
According to The Sun, the "King Richard" star is still in discussions to work on the sequel to his sci-fi thriller film, "I Am Legend," which was released 15 years ago.
The film will apparently be produced by Smith's firm, Westbrook Studios, with Smith repeating his role as Robert Neville.
According to an insider, "the screenplay is being prepared addressing his role and as of now [Smith] is connected to the project." Warner Brothers has yet to approve the proposal, but there has been no indication that Will has dropped out of the movie."
According to the source, Smith will continue to produce the film, and his production firm will be in control while development is ongoing.
"The fact is that [Smith] will make a comeback at some time, and the only question is which studio will take a chance on him."
According to the insider, the public outpouring of support for Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's $50 million defamation trial aided audiences in moving on from the actor's issue to the next topic.
Will Smith will also be greeted with wide arms by Hollywood, which likes comeback stories in which celebrities who appear to be done with show business unexpectedly return with a huge project, according to a source.
Mel Gibson, Winona Ryder, Drew Barrymore, and Robert Downey, Jr. are among the celebrities.
"Things might change dramatically in two years, and Will could return to the screen."

As previously reported by OK magazine, prior to Will Smith's iconic slap incident, major industry streaming platforms were in a bidding battle for the rights to a biopic based on his life.
However, following the Oscars brawl, Netflix and Apple TV apparently rescinded their large offers.
It is presently unknown if the rights have been obtained or whether discussions on the project's development have been halted completely.
