Patricia Heaton has some THOUGHTS on the recasting of Buzz Lightyear.

Tim Allen was the original voice behind the well-loved, iconic Toy Story character Buzz Lightyear. He brought us with him, through our childhoods, to infinity and beyond.

Now, as Pixar gears up to create a new movie inspired by this iconic character, they have made a casting change. Instead of bringing Allen back to vocally reprise his role as Lightyear in the movie Lightyear, they have given the part to actor Chris Evans.

People have some very strong feelings about this recasting. One of those opinionated people is Everybody Loves Raymond star Patricia Heaton.

Heaton spoke out strongly, proclaiming that this recasting was a major mistake. She shared her words on Twitter, exclaiming:

"Saw the trailer for Buzz Lightyear and all I can say is Disney/Pixar made a HUGE mistake in not casting my pal Tim Allen in the role that he originated, the role that he owns. Tim IS Buzz! Why would they completely castrate this iconic, beloved character?"

It was later pointed out that the character that Evans is playing is actually different from the character originated by Allen; Within the world of the story, Allen's Buzz Lightyear would technically be based on the action-hero version that Evans is playing in this film.

Heaton had a response to this as well.

"Okay so the current Buzz Lightyear movie is an origin story - but the reason the character became so beloved is because of what @oftimallen created. Why remove the one element that makes us want to see it."

Whether or not you agree with the sentiment - and there's a lot of room for disagreement, because claiming that the only reason people loved Buzz was Tim Allen is BOLD - you have to admit: We all want a friend like Patricia Heaton.
