Actor, and all-around good guy, Chris Evans is trending today, not only because he is starring in the highly anticipated animated toy story spin-off Pixar's Lightyear, but because of his defense of the LGBTQ+ community.

In a recent sit-down with Variety, Evans spoke openly about the same-sex kiss between Buzz Lightyear's cohort Alisha Hawthorne (played by Uzo Aduba) and her wife, and the decision of Disney to keep the show of affection in the final cut regardless of the film being banned in certain regions, ei. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and several West Asian areas.

His answer was nothing short of perfection:

"I mean, it's great. As great as it is - and you know, I've been asked the question a few times - it's nice, and it's wonderful, it makes me happy. It's tough to not be a little frustrated that it even has to be a topic of discussion. That it is this kind of 'news.' The goal is that we can get to a point where it is the norm, and that this doesn't have to be some uncharted waters, that eventually this is just the way it is. That representation across the board is how we make films. Look, it's an honor to be a part of something that is taking those steps, but the goal is to look back on this time and just be shocked that it took us this long to get there."

Truer words were never spoken.

With Disney's CEO Bob Chapek's recent misstep involving Florida governor Ron DeSantis' "Don't Say Gay" bill, along with their workers' disdain for such hateful behavior, the House of Mouse can use all the good press they can get these days. It makes you wonder if the Pride Month release was a slap in the face of the haters out there? If it was, well played Disney and we hope you have learned from your mistakes.
