'The Wendy Williams Show's' Tragic End: Host's Purple Chair, Memorabilia 'Trashed'
June 17 marked the sorrowful conclusion of "The Wendy Williams Show," and according to a recent report, some set props and mementos will be discarded - just like that.
"The wigs are still there since she didn't come and get them so they're being thrown out," a source who has inside information about the production told The Sun, adding that Wendy's famous "Big Purple Chair" will not receive a special treatment - and will just end up in the trash too, sadly.
"The chair is just going to be thrown out," the source said. "Production is not even bothering to try to donate the chair to a museum - like The View did with their original table after 10 years. They gave it to The Smithsonian."
This is a weird move considering Wendy Williams has been a prized personality before her health gone haywire. Not to mention, the show did had its fans.
A representative for "The Wendy Williams Show" has not commented so far.
Friday's conclusion concluded 13 seasons of the show. During the final season, numerous celebrities replaced Williams as host owing to his health issues, and guest host Sherri Shepherd wished him well on-air.
Fans were nonetheless disappointed with the show's conclusion, as Williams herself was neither involved nor made an appearance.
"Wendy Williams can't even host the finale of her own show. It makes me mad just thinking about it. How are people okay with this?," one fan tweeted.
Another added, "This was an awful finale. To end it with the staff not even mentioning #WendyWilliams was trash and shady af. SMH. @WendyWilliams."
In May, Page Six claimed exclusively that "Wendy" show executives had agonized about how to bring her back for the finale.
People want her to return... Due to Wendy, many people, notably intermediate and entry-level producers, applied for the position. It feels like the world will end without her. It's strange, said an insider at the time. It also does not hold up, the fact that people miss her and yet the show's props will be discarded as if they have no value.
Sadly, the host's "promise" was broken. it can be remembered that around three months back, she said her health could not be better and that she has the body of a 25-year-old. She added that people should just give her 3 months and she'll be back on the show.
In a phone interview with Good Morning America, Williams said her health "is very well," adding, "I'm 57 now, and I have the mind and body of a 25-year-old."
Williams told GMA she's "very comfortable" with the idea of going back to work, claiming that her "partners with the show, everybody's ready."
