Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles Having Marriage Trouble?
Are Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles having trouble in paradise?
As the Duchess of Cornwall approaches her 75th birthday, she has opened up about the difficulties she has in finding meaningful time to spend with her husband among their very hectic schedules.
In an interview with British Vogue, she stated that, while it is difficult, they always attempt to find a common day and time to meet.
Camilla explained, "Sometimes it's like ships passing in the night, but we always sit down together and have a cup of tea and discuss the day. We have a moment."
The royal also said that she has a "lovely time" catching up with her husband despite not having that much time daily with him.
But one thing she appreciates amid juggling their senior royal duties is very simple.
"You know when we go away, the nicest thing is that we actually sit and read our books in different corners of the same room. It's very relaxing because you know you don't have to make a conversation. You just sit and be together."
Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles began dating when both were married to different people.
The Duchess formerly married Andrew Parker Bowles, while the Prince of Wales previously married Princess Diana.
Both of their marriages ended in divorce, and Prince Charles and Camilla married in 1996.
Explaining the reaction she experienced in the 1990s, the Duchess stated that it is still tough to be scrutinized for something that happened a long time ago, but that she just has to learn to live with it.
She expressed, "Nobody likes to be looked at all the time and, you know, criticized [..] But I think in the end, I sort of rising above it and get on with it. You've got to get on with life."
Camilla Parker Bowles' affair with Prince Charles was not the only time she faced criticism.
Queen Elizabeth II stated in February that it is her honest hope that her daughter-in-law will take on the title of Queen Consort after Prince Charles ascends to the throne. However, the announcement sparked great outrage.
It is unknown what Camilla's future title will be after her husband ascends to the throne.
