Florence Pugh to Star In Netflix Limited Series 'East of Eden:' Here's Why This Zoe Kazan Adaptation Has Some Important Family Ties

Pugh is set to lead in a new upcoming Netflix limited series. The show is titled East of Eden, adapted from the original work by the incredible John Steinbeck. According to an exclusive on Deadline, Pugh will be starring in the film as Zoe Kazan writes and executive produces the piece.
This is more than just your average adaptation. East of Eden is practically a foothold of the family business for Kazan. Her grandfather, Eli Kazan, previously adapted the film for the screen back in 1955.
Kazan shared the personal importance East of Eden holds in her life, saying:
"I fell in love with East of Eden when I first read it, in my teens. Since then, adapting Steinbeck's novel - the great, sprawling, three-generational entirety of it - has been my dream. More than anything, I have wanted to give full expression to the novel's astonishing, singular antiheroine, Cathy Ames...Florence Pugh is our dream Cathy; I can't imagine a more thrilling actor to bring this character to life.
"Writing this limited series over the last two years has been the creative highpoint of my life. I hope that with our partners at Netflix, Anonymous Content, and Endeavor Content, we can do justice to this material - and shed new light on it for a twenty-first century audience."
