New 'Planet Of The Apes' Finds A Director And Is Also Getting The Comic Book Treatment Form Marvel
Evidently, Planet of the Apes is getting another installment, though this one will not be helmed by The Batman director Matt Reeves, who is off putting his own spin on the goings on in Gotham City.
Instead, the new film will be directed by Wes Ball, who stepped down from making the comic book spin-off of Harbinger to take on Apes. According to Deadline writer Justin Kroll, who Tweeted this,
"On the Ball front, sources say 20th and Disney were very high on the script that came in last month and are now set to find the star of the film that will hopefully lead future installments of new trilogy of films."
With a new trilogy on the way, they are also looking for a lead to star in the films, though potential prospects have been announced as of yet.
But that's not all we're hearing about the franchise. It was also reported that Planet of the Apes will be making its way to Marvel comics to be adapted into a new run on the sci-fi classic. Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski was more than excited to share the news of the comic last week,
"We're thrilled to welcome Planet of the Apes back to the House of Ideas! The new saga in the pipeline is going to explore the limits of what this beloved franchise has to offer through bold comics storytelling, and we look forward to setting foot on this new adventure!"
Because the film is in the early stages of production there is no release date at this time.
