Niece Waidhofer, a known model and social media influencer, died. She was only 31.

Waidhofer's family first confirmed the heartbreaking news to a news outlet on Thursday, saying that the model was found unconscious in her Houston, Texas, home last month.

A concerned family member reportedly requested the police for a welfare check before her body was discovered.

The same statement disclosed Niece Waidhofer's cause of death, saying that the young influencer died of suicide.

"Sadly, Niece took her own life after a long battle with mental health issues. She was very open with her followers about her struggles, even wanting to help followers who also suffered," the statement said, per PEOPLE.

The bereaved loved ones also paid tribute to her, saying that Waidhofer was more than her struggles as she had been a kind, talented, and thoughtful individual. The family is keen that her following does not just remember her for taking her own life.

As they deal with the dark times in their lives, they still find comfort by thinking that the model is finally reunited with her father, three grandparents, uncle, and her beloved Puff.

Waidhofer seemingly showed signs before her death as she deleted most of the photos on her Instagram page.

It remains unknown the manner of death or how she took her life.

But her family has since launched "Peace for Niece," a non-profit that aims to spread mental health awareness and provide grants for mental illness research.
