Chris Daughtry Suffers Extreme Guilt After Deaths of Mother, Stepdaughter: 'Beat Myself Up'
Chris Daughtry is yet to reach the last stage of grief after the deaths of his mother and stepdaughter.
Daughtry has been dealing with a great loss last year after losing two of his loved ones in a snap. He tried sharing his pain during his appearance on "The Kelly Clarkson Show."
On Thursday, the 42-year-old singer opened up about the tragic losses and the emotions he dealt after learning about his family members' deaths.
Daughtry particularly talked about the guilt that still seethes his insides now.
"I dealt with both differently, processed both losses very differently - the common denominator in both is the guilt. The 'I wish I would have said this. I wish I would've done this. I wish I would've called more,'" he said, as quoted by People.
He noted that the moments of guilt are the hardest as he still suffers from them despite trying hard to do something about it. Although months have already passed, he reportedly still has flashbacks and realizations that he could have done something to prevent the tragedies from happening.
What Happened to Chris Daughtry's Mother, Stepdaughter?
Daughtry both dealt with his mother and stepdaughter's deaths last year.
His mother, Sandra Crowder Daughtry, died in November. The family held a celebration of life in February at Lasker Cemetery.
Meanwhile, the singer's stepdaughter made more buzz as she died of suicide. PEOPLE reported that the 25-year-old Hannah Price claimed her life while under the influence of narcotics.
Before the confirmation of her cause of death, multiple media outlets claimed that Chris Daughtry's stepdaughter died due to homicide. Her boyfriend, Bobby Jolly, was arrested and held at the Fentress County Jail a few hours after Price's body was discovered.
However, DA Jared Effler clarified the reports afterward as it would be "premature" to treat it as a homicide.
Due to the rumors, Price's mother asked everyone to stop spreading rumors about Price's cause of death,
"The people who loved her are in pain and we are mourning they are not talking to the press, they are not spreading rumors and they sure as h--- are not making this about themselves," she said.
After the investigation conducted by Fentress Country Sheriff's Office and the Regional Forensic Center, they discovered that no foul play was involved in Price's death and that she died of suicide.
