Chicago is gearing up for tomorrow's mattine production which will mark the show's historic 10,000th production.

Chicago has been a staple of Broadway and the theatrical world at large for years. It is one of those figureheads that seems as if it surpasses time – having been there forever.

The current revival show is running on Broadway now, and we are about to quanitfy the timelessness of its excellence: The Tony Award winning show is about to run its 10,000th performance.

The 10,000th performance is a number that seems almost impossible, but its grandeousness is a true testiment to the power of this poigniont piece.

While the actual 10,000th performance will not be until Saturday June 25th, the cast celebrated this major achievement at the curtain call of their Thursday night production. They brought out a large banner that read, "Ten thousand performances," and threw colorful balloons through the audience. The fans cheared in appreciation, thrilled to be part of this special moment.

While this 10,000 performance mark would make on assume that Chicago is the longest running Broadway show, it is not true. Chicago still holds firmly to its second place ranking behind the ever iconic Phantom of the Opera.

Regardless of its place in the line-up, everyone involved in the prodcution, and everyone who has at any point been involved in making Chicago what it is today should feel incredibly proud of this massive achievement. Congratulations to all Ithat jazz)! (Get it?)
