Graham Skidmore Cause of Death Tragic: 'Blind Dates' Star Dead at 90
"Blind Dates" star Graham Skidmore has died. He was 90.
Express UK recently reported that Skidmore passed away on December 27. However, his death was just recently confirmed by his family.
Skidmore's son, Neil, paid tribute to his father through a statement to The Sun. According to him, the voiceover artist spent his final days in Kent.
"He might not have wanted to be seen on screen, but he had a celebrity voice - a known voice. He loved it. I do event organizing and had a show in London and got Dad to do the voice-over. People recognized him straight away," Neil said, as quoted by Metro.
Meanwhile, his daughter Catherine also called him a marvelous man who ensured people were being taken care of. She recalled how modest he was as a person as Graham was not a "look at me" type of person.
The same statement disclosed that Skidmore endured vascular dementia and vascular cancer in the past 10 years.
According to the National Health Service, vascular dementia is the most common type of dementia. It occurs when there is blood flow to the brain, which can get worse over time.
Meanwhile, the National Cancer Institute noted that vascular cancer forms from cells that make lymph vessels and blood vessels. The case may be benign or malignant.
Graham Skidmore's Legacy
Skidmore, who was known as "Our Graham" on the TV show "Blind Date," had a fruitful career in the years leading to his death.
The voice artist worked on the British dating game show "Blind Date" from 1985 to 2002. Host Cillia Black, who died in 2015, gave him the nickname "Our Graham" before he was replaced by Tommy Sandhu.
Melanie Skyes also took his spot on the revived version of the show on Channel 5.
From 1993 to 2022, Skidmore also lent his talent to do the voiceover for Vic and Bob's "Shooting Stars."
On top of these, he also scored roles in the TV series "Drummonds" and "Songs for the Times."
Following the news about his death, his fans and supporters expressed their heartbreaks online and paid tribute to the late star.
One said, "If you watched Blind Date with Cilla Black, you might remember her saying 'well It's over to our Graham for a quick reminder'. Voice over artist Graham Skidmore was the voice of the programme. Sad to hear that he has now joined Cilla. R.I.P."
