'The Batman' Starring Robert Pattinson Reaches Another Major Milestone, And Breaks A Record In The Process
Superhero fans have been singing the praises of Matt Reeves' The Batman since it premiered in theaters.
Starring the enigmatic Robert Pattinson in the titular role, The Batman burst onto the scene and quickly made a name for itself as one of the best - if not THE best - Batman movie ever made. Debates about the comprable merits of The Batman versus Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy - previously regarded as the uncontested Best Batman Film - have waged on and off ever since.
While that question may never truly be answered, (although Christian Bale did just announce he would do another Batman movie if Christopher Nolan was asking) we do know that the fan fervor for The Batman isn't slowing down.
The film has reached yet another major milestone today: Letterboxd just announced that it has entered their "One Million Watched Club" - and not only that, it's also the fastest film ever to join it.
Letterboxd has been keeping track of this statistic for around a decade now - the first film to enter the club was Inception (2010), watched by 1 million Letterboxd members 3,391 days after the site officially opened.
For a more accurate comparison: Other films that enterd the One Million Watched Club on the same day as The Batman include Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011).
Letterboxd is a film fan site, where movieheads can keep track of what they've watched, and share with others. They can also do things like make lists of their favorites and least favorites.
We are, of course, not exactly surprised by this development - The Batman was unquestionably one of the best films of this year. We're excited to see what milestones it's set to hit next - and, of course, to hear more about that sequel.
