Ghislaine Maxwell Given 20 Years And Fined $750,000 For Her Role In Trafficking Under-Age Girls For Jeffrey Epstein.

Maxwell was originally facing a maximum of 65 years because of her five felony counts, which include sex trafficing a minor, though prosecuters only asked for 30-50 years.
Maxwell's defense team sought a laughably lesser sentence, of less than six years, for her crimes. But due to her crimes being, quote, "heinous and predatory in nature" The U.S. Probation Department gave her a sentence of 20 years, which would keep the 60-year-old behind bars until she is likely in her late 70s.
Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested back in June of 2020, a little less than a year after Jeffrey Epstein was found dead by an apparent suicide in his jail cell in August. Epstein had just been indicted for several counts of federal sex-trafficing and conspiracy involving underage girls, some of whom were only 14 years old at the time. Some of the victims, now of age, were pivotal witnesses in the trial against Maxwell.
Before handing down Maxwell's sentence, U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan had seven of the victim-impact statements read aloud, stating earlier in the trial:
"I find that the defendant's criminal activity was extensive."
