Royal Trauma: Prince Charles WON'T Accept Hefty Cash Donations Due to THIS
Prince Charles finally made a move after reports claimed that his charity received a huge amount of money from a Qatari politician.
The heir to the throne found himself in hot water again after reports that he accepted almost $3 million in cash from the former prime minister of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Jasseim bin Jaber Al Thani. The Sunday Times revealed that the money was directly given to the royal prince's Prince of Wales Charitable Fund.
In response to this, a royal source revealed to PEOPLE on Wednesday that the future King decided not to accept large cash donations ever again. It noted that Prince Charles also passed the amount on to his charities already.
"They followed the right processes and auditors looked at it," the insider went on, with Clarence House stating in a statement that: "Charitable donations received from Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim were passed immediately to one of the Prince's charities who carried out the appropriate governance and have assured us that all the correct processes were followed."
While it is not illegal for charities to accept donations in cash, the regulator suggests that it should be given in a series of checks.
It was noted that the sheikh gave him three separate donations from 2011 to 2015, and one bundle was given during his private meeting with the royal.
Will Prince Charles Be Investigated?
Following the report, The Charity Commission was urged to launch an investigation, a spokesman for the governing body of the charity world confirmed it, saying that it was aware of the issue.
"We are aware of reports about donations received by The Prince of Wales's Charitable Foundation. We will review the information to determine whether there is any role for the Commission in this matter," it said.
This put Prince Charles in more trouble, as The Prince's Foundation got involved in cash-for-honors allegations. He was bombarded with allegations after his former most-trusted aide, Michael Fawcett, made a deal with Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz in exchange for donations to the Prince of Wales' charities.
The royal family has since dismissed the claims that he was involved in the shocking scheme.
Express UK revealed that the royal prince and Mahfouz first met at Clarence House in March 2014. At that time, his official residence' Dumfries House became their main topic as the royal prince wanted the 18th century Ayrshire mansion to be renovated.
