Because politics aren't a big enough dumpster fire these day, leave it to Texas Senator and perpetual sh*t stirrer Ted Cruz to try to pick a fight with one of children's television's biggest present day icons, Elmo of Sesame Street.

If you have young children or are savvy enough to follow Twitter trends, you may have heard that Elmo performed a sketch on a recent episode of Sesame Street where the furry little guy got a COVID-19 vaccination on Tuesday to help educate children and parents about the importance of getting inoculated now that the FDA deemed children 5 and under safe to be immunized against the virus which shut down the planet for two years.

In the Sesame Street segment, 3-year-old Elmo and his father Louie discuss the process and how talking to Elmo's pediatrician gave them all the incentive to get the young Muppet the shot. Though, for Cruz, this became yet another time he had to pick a fight with a Muppet.

Yeah, he pulled these same theatrics when Big Bird got the jab in November.

Replying to Elmo's Tweet, Cruz posted,

"Thanks, @sesamestreet for saying parents are allowed to have questions! You then have @elmo aggressively advocate for vaccinating children UNDER 5. But you cite ZERO scientific evidence for this."

He then followed with a link to his own website with what he thinks the truth is.

But of course he did. this is the same man who ditched his own state of Texas during a winter power outage in 2021 to take his family to Cancun only to, backpedal and slime his way out of it, claiming he was doing it for his daughters:

"On the one hand, all of us who are parents have a responsibility to take care of our kids, take care of our families. But I also have a responsibility that I take very seriously of fighting for the state of Texas."

It's truly telling of a sitting Senator's mind set when they try to be the foil for a talking piece of fur. But then again, maybe he finally found someone to debate on his own level.
