R. Kelly Survivor Not 'Threatened,' Suggests Singer Do These Two Things
One of R. Kelly's victims, now a survivor, is speaking up after two years of physical and sexual abuse from 2011 to 2013.
Kitti Jones discusses her feelings regarding the judgment of the disgraced singer's sentence case and if she believes he can finally turn his life around following the convictions.
Jones said to TMZ that, while she was relieved the "I Believe I Can Fly" hitmaker was confined and couldn't harm people anymore, she hoped he might change if he admitted his misdeeds and went to counseling.
She actually wants Kelly to accomplish two things.
"I believe it was the human side, the part that made me feel for him."
"If he honestly acknowledged what he's done to others, you know, and took responsibility for it, and just handed his life over to God [...] that, along with treatment."
A court sentenced the R&B hitmaker to 30 years in jail on June 29 after he was found guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking.
Kelly was also ordered by the court to go through sexual dysfunction counseling after completing his sentence.
However, according to Jones, when Kelly is released from prison, he will no longer be a menace to society.
"I'm not threatened," she explained.
"Assume he works for 20 [years]. He will still be 75 years old when he is released on probation. At that point, I don't believe it poses a threat to society."
The victim-turned-survivor, who was also included in the documentary "Surviving R. Kelly," is said to be relieved that she can finally put this horror behind her, not just for herself, but also for other victims of the singer's abuse.
She stated, "I believe it simply provides closure for me and some of the others. I'm relieved he's no longer on the streets and can't harm other people's lives."
R. Kelly Suicide Watch
R. Kelly has been placed on suicide watch, according to Radar Online, despite his lawyer's claims that he is not suicidal.
Atty. Jennifer Bonjean testified that R. Kelly is not only not suicidal, but that he is also frightened of being placed on suicide watch since it "really does more harm" to the singer.
She termed the conduct "horrifying" and claimed it was "punishment for being high-profile."
Bonjean also said she hasn't spoken with Kelly since he was transferred to the Metropolitan Prison Center in Brooklyn following his sentence last week and hasn't gotten any information about Kelly's situation from the detention center.
