Is Joy Behar leaving "The View" before her 80th birthday?

"The View" fans received surprising news about Behar's alleged plan to retire ahead of her 80th birthday in October. It all started when Independent Journal Review quoted a 2020 article posted by Variety, revealing the host's plans to retire from the program this year.

"I don't see myself staying for more [time]. That's it! I could be wrong. If I'm as fabulous in [2022] as I am now, I'll think about. But the chances of that happening. You know, time marches on. I'm not a kid," she said.

At that time, she had an exclusive interview with the news outlet after releasing the paperback of the non-fiction book "Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of 'The View'" by Variety's Ramin Setoodeh.

Behar's representative told New York Post on Tuesday that the report was "fake news." It added that the 79-year-old renewed her contract and signed another three-year deal with ABC.

With that, it is safe to say that she will not retire until 2025.

Although the report was proven false, several social media users approved the exit and said that Behar should leave instead.

ABC Debunked Previous Rumors

Although Variety reported in 2020 that Behar had an exit date already, multiple sources revealed at that time that the news was not true.

"Joy was asked what happens at the end of her contract and as she herself made clear in the interview, if she's 'as fabulous in [2022] as I am now,' she will be in her seat at the table," a source said.

Behar has been part of the daytime show since its launch in 1997.

She was fired in 2013, though, when the executives urged the hosts to be less political. But two years later, she was hired again after the show's ratings plummeted without her.

Again, she continuously shared her damaging political views, which also garnered condemnation.

Last month, she said she wanted to jump out of a plane and land in the Supreme Court area following its shocking decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. She also infamously called former President Donald Trump a "disgusting racist" before saying that anyone who supported the former POTUS might also be a racist.

But aside from her blunders, Behar also caught people's attention when she face-planted during the start of the live show in March. At that time, she, fortunately, did not suffer from any injuries and went on to continue recording the show.
