It's NOT the end! 'lofi hip hop radio: beats to relax/study to" Has Stopped Its Livestream, But Not For Good

A YouTube livestream has just ended.
Not just any YouTube livestream, though: 'lo fi hip hop radio: beats to relax/study to" has been going for 20,843 hours, 43 minutes, and 51 seconds - that's 869 days, or well over two years.

This isn't the first time this YouTube livestream has ended - variations of the chill hip-hop beats, played on a continuous loop over the image of an anime girl studying quietly, has been the soundtrack to people's studies for much longer than that.
The stream was first interrupted in 2020 after its owner recieved a ban from YouTube for "violating their terms of service," which later turned out to be false. Her account was reinstated after a massive outcry of people who use the stream to help them focus got the platform's attention on social media.
Just like then, this time, the stream has not been taken down for good. The account holder who runs the livestreams, Lofi Girl, recieved a copyright strike on her YouTube account for them, and thus the videos stopped.
However, it was soon found that the copyright claims were bogus. The strikes against her account were removed, and she will soon be able to get back to studying.
confirmed the takedown requests were abusive & terminated the claimants account 😔 we've resolved the strikes + reinstated your vids – it can sometimes take 24-48 hours for everything to be back to normal! so sorry this happened & thx for your patience as we sorted it out ❤️🩹

If there's one thing YouTube can learn from this, it's that you don't mess with Lofi Girl...or her fans, who seem to always be studying for something.
