The sleeper horror film Orphan from 2009 has gotten a prequel titled Orphan: First Kill and the new trailer looks as intense as the original.

If you haven't seen the original film, which starred Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard as a mourning couple looking to adopt a 9-year-old girl after the loss of one of their children. But Ester, played by Isabelle Fuhrman, a seemingly sweet, well-mannered child, had a dark past which ends up as a major plot twist you might not see coming.

The film co-stars Julia Stiles, Rossif Sutherland, and Hiro Kanagawa and is directed by William Brent Bell.

According to the plot description:

"Unhinged woman Leena Klammer orchestrates a brilliant escape from an Estonian insane asylum and travels to America by stealing the identity of the missing daughter of a wealthy family. However, Leena's new life as "Esther" comes with an unexpected wrinkle and pits her against a mother who will do anything to protect her family at any cost."

What makes this PREQUEL so strange is that first played the role when she was just 10-years-old. Now, over a decade later she is reprising the role of a young girl and still looks exactly the same! She is 25 and it's jarringly impressive to see how they made her appear even younger.

You can check out the trailer and, if you feel like doing so, watch the first one if only for that insane twist ending.

Orphan: First Kill will be hitting theaters, Paramount+, and Digital Streaming on August 19.
