'Gold Digger' Amber Heard Criticized by Actor Mickey Rourke Following Failed Motion
Mickey Rourke did not hold back and called Amber Heard a gold digger following her defamation trial with Johnny Depp.
After losing the UK libel case, Depp made a successful comeback when he won the $50 million lawsuit against Heard over a 2018 The Washington Post op-ed she wrote. In the piece, she alleged that she was a survivor of domestic abuse.
Although she did not mention Depp, it caused the actor to lose his titular roles and projects, including the "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Fantastic Beasts" franchises.
Following the verdict, Rourke sat down for an interview on the TV show, "Piers Morgan Uncensored." During his appearance, he sided with the "Minamata" actor, although he does not know him intimately.
"All I could say is, I was in a situation one time where I was blamed for something that I didn't do. It cost me movie jobs for several years and it [gave] me a bad reputation. And finally the truth came out, but the truth came out after I lost movies and I lost jobs. And so I felt bad for somebody that is trying to get chopped down by some gold digger, you know?" he told Morgan.
Meanwhile, the host asked him again if that is what he thought "she" was, to which the "Iron Man 2" actor responded, "absolutely."
For what it's worth, Rourke found himself in a similar position in the 1990s when he got blacklisted in Hollywood.
What Happened to Mickey Rourke?
In an interview with Fox News earlier this year, he revealed that was blacklisted in Hollywood as he was too difficult to work with.
Fortunately, the new generation of filmmakers never felt scared about going toe to toe with him while working.
"They don't care about what they hear. They judge me by my acting ability, not my old reputation. So it's been sort of a resurrection of being able to work with younger directors," he went on.
Before he set the record straight, it was assumed that he got blacklisted following his rogue on-set behavior and arrest in 1994 due to suspicion of spousal abuse against his wife, Carré Otis.
They got married in 1992 after their first meeting on the set of "Wild Orchid" and got divorced in 1998. The actress revealed in her 2011 memoir "Beauty Disrupted" that she was raped by her modeling agent and that Rourke abused her during their marriage.
