Twitter is Trending on Twitter Because People Couldn't Post On Twitter (Huh?)
Twitter crashed earlier today, and now that it is back, it is more hilarious than ever.
In the age of social media that we find ourselves currently in the midst of now, a site crashing is a major deal. When Instagram went down everywhere just a few short months ago, everyone flocked to Twitter in order to make jokes about the chaos that ensued. It turns out that when Twitter crashes, the world just patiently waits their turn until the site resurfaces in order to make fun of the time they spent off of the app.
Therefore, obviously, "Twitter is down" began, ironically, trending on Twitter. People used the phrase "Twitter is down" largely to point out the fact that they have nowhere to go to complain about the fact that Twitter is down. One user posted the Friends GIF in which Chandler turns looks around saying, "Awww...Oh no, wait a minute. I have no one," captioned with the words, "When you go to Tweet that Twitter is down..."
This was not the only user having this experience. Another sent out a Star Wars picture showing Baby Yoda with the text, "When you can't check the Twitter status account to see if Twitter is down because Twitter is down."
Individuals were not alone in lamenting the defunct status of their favorite app. Even corporations came out to share in the loss with the rest of the Twittersphere. McDonald's sent out a relatable, "Sorry the twitter machine is down."
We are glad that Twitter is back up and working, but this was certainly entertaining!
