In Honor of National Macaroni and Cheese Day, Here Are Eight National Holidays That Make You Ask, "...Why?" (In a FUN Way!)
Happy National Macaroni and Cheese Day!
Yes, today, July 14th, is National Macaroni and Cheese Day. This is not to be confused with National Macaroni Day which was exactly one week ago. On that day we discussed why Kraft Macaroni and Cheese was the gold standard for all Mac and Cheese. It was, dare we say, a gripping argument which we encourage you to read here, but this is not that day.
Random national holidays are some of the funniest days of the year. It seems that every random thing has some day to celebrate it. In honor of National Macaroni and Cheese Day, here are eight of our favorite random national holidays.
1. January 10th: National Houseplant Appreciation Day
Houseplants jazz up every indoor space they enter. In their own oxygen producing way, they really bring the party. We rely on them to decorate our homes and lift our spirits. January 10th is the day that we show them a little thanks. How does one celebrate National Houseplant Appreciation Day? We're not sure! Maybe a little more sunlight?
2. March 31st: National Dance Marathon Day
If you love to dance, March 31st is the day for you. You never need to stop dancing! March 31st is National Dance Marathon Day! The 24 hour event is a celebration of fun and physical activity (and, of course, dance!) So get together with all of your friends, and, once you are all gathered, make sure you don't stop moving!
3. May 8th: National No Socks Day
If your feet spend day after day shoved inside shoes and socks, May 8th is the day that they can be set free. May 8th is National No Socks Day. It is the perfect day to let your feet roam free- in fact, it is literally being celebrated! We suppose you could wear shoes with no socks (but also...maybe don't do that?)
4. June 3rd: National Chocolate Macaroon Day
(Is it just us, or are these holidays getting INCREDIBLY specific?) We know you don't need a holiday to indulge in these amazing, delectable cookies, but now you have a reason to celebrate them. On National Chocolate Macaroon Day, make sure that you grab a box and are ready to celebrate in the tastiest way possible.
5. July 14th: National Macaroni and Cheese Day
NATIONAL MACARONI AND CHEESE DAY HAS TO BE ON THIS LIST NOT ONLY BECAUSE IT IS TODAY BUT BECAUSE MACARONI AND CHEESE IS AMAZING AND DESERVES A DAY *breath* Sorry for yelling. We got excited.
6. September 1st: National Ginger Cat Appreciation Day
If you have a ginger cat, September 1st is the way to honor them. Give them an extra treat. Keep them chasing that light for just a little bit longer. Pet them until they are purring. Make sure you are celebrating National Ginger Cat Day in style. If you have any other kind of cat? Eh, ignore this one.
7. November 13th: National Hug a Musician Day
If you know a musician, heck, even if you don't, it is time to give them a hug. November 13th is National Hug a Musician Day! Why are we specifically setting aside a day to hug a Musician and not anyone else in any other profession? We have *absolutely* no idea. (Side note, please get consent before hugging a musician. Musicians have boundaries, too!)
8. December 6th: National Microwave Oven Day
Just...why?
We hope this list keeps you celebrating the weirdest holidays in our calendar year! Now off to go eat some mac and cheese!
