Robert Downey Jr. Funding Armie Hammer's Rehab Stay Divides The Internet – Why?
Armie Hammer has been out of the spotlight since a slew of unsettling claims against him surfaced last year.
Many individuals sought to distance themselves from him following the controversy, but one person has remained by his side: Robert Downey, Jr.
Thanks to the "Ironman" actor, the "Call Me By Your Name" star found his way back to Los Angeles after being photographed working in the Cayman Islands.
Following the sexual misconduct allegations, Hammer was seen marketing timeshares in the Cayman Islands.
According to Vanity Fair, the 35-year-old automobile was flown back to Los Angeles and is now residing at a home owned by Downey Jr.
The veteran star is also said to have paid for Hammer's six-month stay at a Florida rehabilitation facility.
According to the Guest House, they cater to clientele with "high-stress or high-visibility lifestyles," such as "business leaders, politicians, and even entertainment figures."
It is a 52-acre estate located near Silver Springs.
Variety reported Hammer attended an AA meeting, and Downey Jr. is even assisting him financially until he gets back on his feet.
Hammer, Armand Hammer's great-grandson, has been working as a timeshare salesman in the Cayman Islands for over a year.
His career, however, has been jeopardized when multiple women accused him of sending cannibalism messages. The charges were so damaging to his career in Hollywood that his last project, "Death on the Nile," was canceled by his agency, WME.
In addition, Hammer lost planned projects such as "Shotgun Wedding," "The Offer," and "The Minutes."
Fans on social media, however, were perplexed as to why Robert Downey Jr. was assisting Armie Hammer.
There is no official statement explaining why the "Sherlock Holmes" actor is acting this way.
However, Downey Jr. may have empathized with him since it mirrored his own background.
However, despite the kindness, the internet is questioning the actor's choice to assist Hammer, with one user stating, "What happened to his victims? Who is rooting for them?"
Another person commented on the charges of cannibalism, adding, "I understand RDJ's point of view here. He was given a second chance, and he wants to offer it to someone else. Cannibalism, on the other hand, is completely mad."
"I'm just imaging Hammer being so f----d up that RDJ had to beg him to go to rehab," a third individual stated of Hammer's situation.
A fourth individual criticized Downey Jr. for assisting the struggling actor, claiming he does not trust in the Downey Jr.'s "motivations."
"Downey pays for Hammer's treatment since he was released from prison after several arrests on drug-related offenses. Hammer told ladies he wanted to take their ribs, barbeque them, and eat them while fantasizing about rape. There is no rehabilitation for it, "a fifth irate Twitter user said.
