Fans of the Emmy nominated hit Hulu series Only Murders In The Building now have the perfect song to crank up while they lounge on the beach this summer and better yet, a music video to boot (or rather flip-flop).

Last Friday, the show released a hilarious single, Angel in Flip-Flops, the ridiculous song Steve Martin's character Charles-Haden Savage recorded for the detective series Brazzos on which he was the star of back in the 1990s. Heard in the intro of the most recent episode, the song was said to be written in Charles' kitchen and was sampled by several rappers over the years.

Produced by David Letterman's former band leader, musician Paul Shaffer, the song was co-written by Steve Martin who is known for his musical prowess, especially with a banjo. The video for the song looks like an early South Park episode, with wacky cutouts of Martin's face on a cartoon body singing and playing the guitar. What follows is a mash-up of silliness that has to be seen to believe.

Series co-creator and showrunner John Hoffman jokingly said this of how the ridiculous track came to be in the show,

"When we shared this idea with Steve Martin - well, I think it was a day (if even?) before Steve had a title and a tune making its way through his genius mind and we were more than off and running.

"Steve dove in with Kirker Butler to craft a late 20th Century classic and then, incredibly, along came Paul Shaffer to arrange that classic that is now our 'Angel In Flip-Flops.' We're all hoping for a revival of interest in the tune, of course - in Germany, and all parts of the world without walls!"

So, grab your favorite Hawaiian shirt, slip on your sandals, and grab a Mai Tai as you check out the genius that is "Angel In Flip-Flops."
