The cause of death for young comedian Jak Knight has now been confirmed as suicide.

According to People, the body of 28-year-old Knight was found Thursday, after he suffered from a gunshot wound on a Los Angeles, California embankment. An autopsy performed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner has found the wound to be self-inflicted.

Jak Knight was a rising star in the comedy world, having opened for several high-profile comics, including Eric Andre, Dave Chappelle, and Aziz Ansari, while also lending his talent to several shows both as a writer and actor. His credits include Netflix's hit animated series Big Mouth, where he not only wrote, but also provided the voice for the character DeVon.

Knight was also the executive story editor on ABC's Black-ish, was co-creator and star of Peacock's Bust Down, and was a writer/star of HBO Max's Pause with Sam Jay.

The news of his death was announced by the performer's family, and this tragedy is being felt throughout the entertainment world.
