'Today' Ratings Increase: Is It Because of Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb's Rumored Feud?
It would appear that Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb's alleged feud is contributing to the success of "Today" in terms of viewership.
According to The Sun, as of the 4th of July, Nielsen TV rating data indicated that "Today" and "GMA" divided first position. The former program, "Today," acquired 1,000 more viewers in the last week, therefore the two programs tied for first place.
As word spread about the alleged beef throughout the week of July 4, "Today" was able to attract a total audience of 2.7 million people.
This comes after the show nearly had a decline in viewership of 13% in July of 2021.
"GMA," the competitor, was nonetheless able to edge ahead and take the lead because to the 2.96 million views it received.
It added 3% more viewers compared to the previous week, but compared to the same point in the previous year, "Today" has gained viewers while "GMA" has lost 8% of its audience.
The conflict that had been going on behind the scenes between Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie became public knowledge, which sparked a surge in interest in "Today."
The news source had previously stated that the two could not tolerate one other off-camera, despite the fact that they appeared to be the best of friends while they were together on television.
After Matt Lauer's dismissal from the show, the source claims that Savannah has assumed the role of the show's leader in its current iteration.
She instantly seized control and desired for someone individual to be in Hoda's post; but, Willy Geist's numbers were not up to line for NBC, and she was unable to have her way.
They disclosed that Hoda outwitted Savannah and secured the position.
The insider went on to state that Savannah also considers herself to be a "genuine news person," but Hoda is seen as "the lightweight that drank wine with Kathy Lee Gifford," according to the information provided by the source.
They added that "Savannah was the White House correspondent before landing the host role, which also explains her affinity for Jenna because her father was president." Jenna's father was President George W. Bush.
A few of days earlier, viewers also sensed some tensionwhen it was being shown live.
The show invited Lizzo to be their musical guest on Monday, and she played on the outside stage.
At one point in the show, Hoda Kotb took the hand of Lizzo and led her into the audience so that she could meet and greet her supporters. Fans saw that she didn't wait for Savannah to join them while she was having her time with the singer who had success with the song "Juice."
Later, Savannah followed them down the stairs with co-hosts Dylan Dreyer and Craig Melvin, despite the fact that Hoda gave the impression that she was rushing the singer-dancer ahead, leaving the others in her wake.
