'Barbie' Movie Details

Margot Robbie co-stars in the highly anticipated comedy film "Barbie" with Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu, Will Ferrell, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, and Kate McKinnon.

According to Deadline, the narrative revolves on the blonde beauty being booted out of "Barbieland" because she is not flawless enough to stay there.

Then she embarks on an expedition to rescue the country, only to discover that believing in oneself is the secret to happiness.

Margot admitted to British Vogue that the film comes with a lot of baggage and emotion to honor the heritage of the doll.

"When people hear 'Barbie,' they typically assume, 'I know what that movie is going to be,' and then they hear Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, and they're like, 'Oh, well, maybe I don't...'"

Meanwhile, Margot was able to celebrate her 32nd birthday during filming and received a Barbie-themed birthday cake.

"Barney," "Hot Wheels," "UNO," "American Girl," and "Masters of the Universe" are among the other Mattel film projects in the works.

"Barbie" has no release date as of writing, but fans are very excited how Greta Gerwig is putting a spin of this childhood classic.

Meanwhile, Variety reports that Ryan Gosling earns the same as Margot Robbie for "Barbie," at $12.5 million.

Despite pandemic-related constraints and delays, Warner Bros. had a domestic gross of about $667 million, according to Business Insider.
