Michael K. Williams earned great love from his "Breaking" co-star, John Boyega.

Williams' fans will see the late actor again in one of his final films before his death. Bleecker Street recently dropped the trailer of the actor's film, "Breaking," on its YouTube channel.

But aside from hyping everyone with the project, the sneak peek made Boyega remember his co-star nearly a year since his tragic passing.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday during the 2022 ESPY Awards, the 30-year-old "Star Wars" alum opened up about working with Williams and the love he has for him.

"I actually requested him to be in this movie, and he came through. Got paid peanuts just to be a part of the art, so we'll forever love you, brother," he said. "To see the trailer today brought back all those emotions and feelings and just being on set with him."

Boyega also praised Williams and said that working with him was incredible.

"Breaking" is an upcoming 2022 film about Marine veteran Brian Brown-Easley, played by Boyega. The character is denied support from Veterans Affairs, prompting him to take a bank hostage.

It will premiere on August 26.

How Did Michael K. Williams Die?

Boyega's comments came months after the then-54-year-old actor was found unconscious in the dining room of his Brooklyn penthouse. After finding his body, authorities suspected that Michael K. Williams' cause of death was a drug overdose as they found heroin on the kitchen table.

Williams' nephew discovered him. He then called the cops after seeing the unresponsive and cold man. But a few minutes later, the responders pronounced him dead.

At that time, the authorities clarified that there was nothing suspicious about his death.

A representative of the late actor confirmed Williams' death in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

"It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Emmy nominated actor Michael Kenneth Williams," spokesperson Marianna Shafran said. "They ask for your privacy while grieving this unsurmountable loss."

However, police sources later reported that four men, who were believed to be members of the drug distribution crew, gave Williams fentanyl-laced heroin that led to his death.

According to Associated Press, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams and New York City Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell confirmed that the four men were put in custody as part of the criminal complaints filed in Manhattan federal court.

One of them was Irvin Cartagena, who sold the deadly substance to "The Wire" actor.
