Johnny Depp and Amber Heard will face each other again soon - and the actor is not worried about it.

Heard has yet to accept the verdict as she recently filed an appeal nearly two months after Depp won the defamation trial.

The three-page filing, which was submitted on Thursday, disclosed that the actress officially informed the court she plans to appeal the verdict.

Part of the statement says (as quoted by Deadline):

"Please take notice that Defendant and Counterclaim Plaintiff Amber Laura Heard, pursuant to Rule 5:9 of the Rules of the Supreme Court of Virginia, hereby gives Notice of her Appeal to the Virginia Court of Appeals from this Court's June 24, 2022, Final Judgment Order, the July 13, 2022 Order on Defendant and Counterclaim Plaintiff Amber Laura Beard's Post-Trial Motions ("Post-Trial Motions Order"), and from all additional Orders and rulings by the Trial Court prior to the entry of the Final Judgment Order and Post-Trial Motions Order."

Despite the move, Depp's spokesperson divulged that the actor and his team are confident they will win it again. It added that the verdict would not shake the verdict that Heard defamed Depp multiple times.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Heard insisted to the news outlet that the court truly made errors that led to an unfair and inconsistent verdict. With the appeal, they reportedly aim to gain fairness and justice to reclaim the actress's glory again.

Johnny Depp Already Won the Defamation Case

Heard's move came after Judge Penney Azcarate finalized the verdict last month.

In a report shared by The Independent, Law&Crime's Angenette Levy confirmed that the judge said it would be risky for the "Aquaman" actress to appeal due to the additional fees she would need to cover.

The judgment order states: "The jury verdict of $5m in punitive damages in favor of Mr Depp is hereby reduced to $350,000, the statutory cap ... with respect to the complaint, judgment is hereby entered in favor of Mr. Depp against Ms Heard in the amount of $10,350,000, with interest at the statutory rate of six percent from the date of this order."

Meanwhile, attorney Lisa Bloom expected said the world is yet to see the end of Heard and Depp's legal battle as the case would soon be decided on appeal by the actress.

She told BBC Newsnight that most defamation trials are decided on appeal. With that, fans can expect the same - or shockingly different - verdict soon.
