Tsudoi Miyazaki Cause of Death Shocking: Triathlete Dead at 25 After Horrifying Event
Tsudoi Miyazaki, a Japanese triathlete who wanted to join the Olympics, died tragically in France. She was 25.
Triathlon.org confirmed the heartbreaking news, saying Miyazaki got involved in a fatal accident after competing in the Pontevedra World Cup in Spain.
After the competition last weekend, Miyazaki's Olympic dreams were cut short as she was killed after a car struck her while at a training camp in France.
"World Triathlon and the Japan Triathlon Union want to offer our deepest condolences to Ms. Miyazaki's family, friends, coaches, and teammates. The thoughts of all the Triathlon Family are with you all in these terrible times," the organization said, per Bleacher Report.
Per The New York Post, the New York police had already launched a probe into the incident. However, they are yet to release new information as of press time. The Japan Triathlon Union also dispatched more resources to help the police in the investigation.
Before her death, she was still able to post pictures and videos on Instagram from her last competition in Spain. The athlete said in the caption that the event was a good experience, so she hoped it would not end.
"It was a good experience, and I hope it doesn't end, and I'm going to use what I feel next. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me the challenge. Thank you for your support," the aspiring Olympian said.
Following her passing, fans who had been supporting her in her Olympic journey shared heartfelt messages to the late athlete.
Tsudoi Miyazaki's Career
Born in Toyama City, Japan, Miyazaki notably started her triathlon journey when she was in college.
In 2019, she won the Japan U23 Triathlon Championships. From there, she was expected to become a more high-performing triathlete.
Sources said that Miyazaki was aiming to be selected for the 2024 and 2028 Olympics in Paris and Los Angeles.
In the recent 2022 World Triathlon Cup Pontevedra, Miyazaki managed to be in the 50th position.
Her other events this year included 2022 Americas Triathlon Cup Long Beach, 2022 JPN Sprint Triathlon National Championships, 2022 Asia Triathlon Cup Subic Bay, 2022 Africa Triathlon Cup Swakopmund, and 2022 Africa Triathlon Cup Troutbeck.
She was ranked 142 in the women's World Triathlon Rankings at the time of her tragic passing.
