Raven Symon Comes Out, Getting Married To Girlfriend AzMarie Livingston?
When Raven Symone thanked the government's stance on gay marriage, she sparked rumors that she is gay and ready to marry her rumored partner.
Symone wrote on Twitter, "I can finally get married! Yay government! So proud of you," on Aug. 2.
After the tweet went viral, Symone debunked the rumors that she plans to walk down the aisle.
"I am very happy that gay marriage is opening up around the country and is being accepted," Symone told E! News. "I was excited to hear today that more states legalized gay marriage. I, however am not currently getting married, but it is great to know I can now, should I wish to," Symone added.
The actress' rep also issued a statement to E! News stating, "Raven is not getting married. She was just supporting the fact that she heard on NPR that more states legalized gay marriage today," she announced.
Symone sexuality was first questioned in May, 2012 when a family insider told The National Enquirer that she had moved her model girlfriend into her $11,000 a month New York City condominium. National Enquirer published a report that Symone was dating America's Next Top Model: British Invasion contestant AzMarie Livingston, and she moved the statuesque beauty in her home, despite her family's disapproval.
Livingston appeared in season 1 of Tyra Banks' America's Next Top Model: British Invasion and was eliminated in episode six. The source said when Symone's family learned of their relationship, it became a "gay scandal" for the star.
"When her family found out, they blew their stack and it's created a gay scandal for Raven. She told her parents she loves them, but her home - especially her bedroom - is nobody's business," the source told The National Enquirer. "She was not going to back down, so they needed to accept it, period."
"She's at a point now where she doesn't care what her family thinks, and she's in love with AzMarie. She's a lesbian and wants to live that way," the source added. "She feels her parents are still trying to treat her like she's a kid, and she's told them she's going to do what she wants."
Symone responded to the report in a series of rants on Twitter.
"I'm living my PERSONAL life the way I'm happiest. I'm not one, in my 25 year career to disclose who I'm dating. And I shall not start now," she wrote.
"My sexual orientation is mine, and the person I'm dating to know. I'm not one for a public display of my life, however that is my right as a HUMAN BEing whether straight or gay. To tell or not to tell. As long as I'm not harming anyone. I am a light being made from love. And my career is the only thing I would like to put on display, not my personal life. Kisses!" she continued.
