Kyle Busch Survives Near-Death Experience During Recent Family Outing [VIDEO]
Kyle Busch and his family faced a near-death experience while spending a day at a mall in Minnesota.
A now-viral video shows Busch and his family evacuating The Mall of America on Thursday afternoon following a shooting incident. They were among the people who ran away from the mall's amusement park following reports that shots were fired during that day.
KSTP reported that the incident happened around 4:15 p.m. As quoted by CBS Sports, a fight reportedly broke out between two groups at the cash register in a Nike store. One of the groups left, but an armed man fired at least three rounds of gunshots before running away from the store.
A video of the incident, which also captured Busch's family, has since gone viral. The NASCAR driver exited alongside his 6-year-old son, Brexton Locke, and wife, Samantha.
The matriarch posted an update on her Instagram Story, assuring that the family was okay after fans started checking Busch's well-being.
CBS Minnesota disclosed that the mall was closed after the incident but reopened for regular hours on Friday. The management also imposed stricter security, officials confirmed.
Meanwhile, the police are asking for help as they are still searching for the two suspects and the handgun used during the shooting. Information or leads can be sent by calling 952-563-4900.
Kyle Busch Up For a Competition After Shooting Incident
The shooting event occurred days before his scheduled race on Sunday at the Michigan International Speedway.
Days before his race, he told the press at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier this week that he plans to take less money to secure a NASCAR Cup Series ride for the next season.
Dustin Long of NBC Sports explained that Busch's financial considerations play a huge role in getting a deal done with his current team this year.
"I don't think money has ever been the objective or ever been the issue. Obviously, I know what the sports landscape is, I know what's happening. The talk from my side was that I know there need to be concessions made and to race for under my market value, and I've accepted that and told everybody that and just trying to see where all that lies," he said, as quoted by NASCAR.com.
If he completes the deal, Busch will remain at Joe Gibbs Racing.
