Miranda Cosgrove Expresses Empathy for Jeanette McCurdy After SHOCKING ‘iCarly’ Claims
Miranda Cosgrove is reacting to her old friend Jennette McCurdy after the former actress spoke out about her abusive experiences and trauma while working on a TV show years ago.
According to E! Online, the author alleged that she was abused by her late mother and was traumatized by someone she referred to as "The Creator" on the set of the hit Nickelodeon TV show "iCarly."
In a recent interview with The New York Times, McCurdy said the early stages of her life until she was an adult "were very exploited."
"There were cases where people had the best intentions and maybe didn't know what they were doing. And also cases where they did-they knew exactly what they were doing," she added.
In the same article, the former child star's co-star, Cosgrove, shared her thoughts about the situation, saying she didn't realize her friend went through horrible experiences while they were working on the web series-based show.
"When you're young, you're so in your own head, you can't imagine that people around you are having much harder struggles," she said.
She added that McCurdy, who played the role of Sam Puckett, was always positive back when they were shooting scenes together and she didn't expect "things like that" from a person who's "making everyone laugh."
The recent news comes ahead of the release of her memoir titled "I'm Glad My Mom Died" where she will explain her tragic past in the hands of her mother as well as other experiences she suffered while working as a child actor.

The memoir caused backlash from one family member of the former star as her grandmother was upset about the title, according to her brother Marcus McCurdy.
"Our grandmother is very upset about that title. It's more of a coping mechanism. You can either be like, 'Woe is me, my life is horrible.' Or you find the humor in these things that are really tragic," he said.
The show "iCarly" got a reboot under Paramount+ last year, but McCurdy didn't reprise her role, saying she doesn't act anymore.
Cosgrove fully understood her old pal's situation but revealed that they will not close their doors if she ever decides to return to the show.
