Desiree Hartsock and her fiancé Chris Siegfried appeared on Good Morning America on Tuesday, the day after she accepted his proposal during The Bachelorette season 9 finale on Monday night.

GMA co-anchor Lara Spencer asked Hartsock what it was like for her to go from "total devastation," following Brooks Forester's exit, to accepting a marriage proposal during her two-week trip in Antigua. The bachelorette said the experience "accelerated" her feelings for Siegfried and helped her get past the hurt caused by Forester's exit.

"It's a different situation because the feelings are more accelerated," Hartsock explained. "But at the same time, I think it's helped me getting past, you know, the hurt from Brooks leaving and being able to see all that was here, you know, in Chris. Sometimes I think you do have to go through the hard to get to the good."

Spencer also asked Hartsock about what it was like to see Forester at the After The Rose Special. It was the first time she had been face-to-face with him since he broke up with her in Antigua.

"It was good to see him," Hartsock said. "But that day [of the breakup], we were able to be so honest, that was the closure I needed," she told Spencer.

She also said she had no animosity toward Forester.

Siegfried shared what it was like for him when he learned that Forester left the competition in Antigua. He said learned about it from Hartsock, during the rose ceremony. He wanted to hug and console her, but out of respect for his competing suitor Drew Kenney, he held back.

Siegfried also revealed that he and his fiancé' discussed watching the breakup segment together to help them move forward in their relationship.

"I actually didn't watch the entire part of it," Siegfried told Spencer. "We initially talked about watching the episode. And how we would handle that part of our relationship going forward. And we kind of just decided that maybe it would be best to watch the segment that we just shared together [instead]."

Hartsock described Siegfried's marriage proposal as "very exciting, nerve-racking" and "amazing."

Siegfried said he rehearsed the proposal just once.

"I went over what I wanted to say to her," Siegfried said on GMA. "There were important things I needed her to hear. I'm just really glad she said yes. It was really quite beautiful."

Hartsock accepted Siegfried's proposal during part 2 of The Bachelorette season 9 finale on Monday, Aug. 5. He outlasted a total of 25 suitors who appeared on the show, when the season premiered on Memorial Day in May.

During the After The Rose special, host Chris Harrison announced that another suitor, Juan Pablo Galavais, will become the next Bachelor in 2014 for season 18.
