Denise Dowse, a veteran actress who appeared in "Insecure" and "Beverly Hills, 90210," died. She was 64.

Dowse's sister, Tracey, shared the news about the actress's passing through an Instagram post on Saturday.

"It is with a very heavy heart that I inform everyone that my sister, Denise Dowse, has gone forward to meet our family in eternal life. Denise Yvonne Dowse was the most amazing sister, a consummate, illustrious actress, mentor and director. She was my very best friend and final family member," she wrote.

Tracey also asked everyone for privacy and continued prayers as their family continues to deal with the heartbreaking event. She announced that they would have a Celebration of Life for the late actress, the details of which would be announced at a later date.

She did not disclose Denise Dowse's cause of death, but it is worth noting that her passing occurred days after Tracey revealed that the "Grey's Anatomy" actress was in a hospital and in a coma after contracting meningitis.

"I am requesting support and prayers be offered to me and my sister, and my only immediate family Denise Dowse. She is currently in the hospital in a coma brought on by a virulent form of meningitis. Her doctors do not know when she will come out of the coma as it was not medically induced," Tracey disclosed.

Per Neurology.org, bacterial meningitis causes a decreased level of consciousness. Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that the swelling in patients with meningitis is typically caused by a bacterial or viral infection of the fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord.
