Tom Holland Leaving Social Media Again!? 'Spiderman' Actor Reveals SHOCKING Reason Why
Actor Tom Holland reactivates his Instagram to speak up about his mental health experience and how social media has affected his well-being.
The "Spiderman" actor posted a video on his Instagram promoting the teenage mental health charity he sponsors, Stem4. Holland took the time to discuss the various apps that the charity provides, which he had described as "really helpful".
The Marvel star also opened up about his struggles on social media, and how it affects him mentally. He announced that he would be taking a break from social media, as he finds Instagram and Twitter to be "overstimulating" and "overwhelming".
"I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online and ultimately, it's very detrimental to my mental state. So I decided to take a step back and delete the app." Holland explained. "So again thank you for listening. I'm going to disappear from Instagram again."
The "Uncharted" actor had reportedly deleted his Instagram several times in the past, but would resurface every now and then.
Same Sentiments from Girlfriend Zendaya
Tom's girlfriend and co-star Zendaya has also talked about her unhealthy relationship with social media in the past, to which her fans had encouraged her to step back when necessary.
"Being on social media would kind of make me anxious, or I would start to overthink a little too much," Zendaya explained. "My fans want me to be happy and exist beyond social media."
Life Outside of Social Media
Despite beginning his acting career at the early age of nine, the actor has always expressed his desire to keep his life private and simple.
"I've always been really adamant to keep my private life private, because I share so much of my life with the world anyway. We sort of felt robbed of our privacy." Tom explained.
Outside of filming and spending time with his loved ones, not much is known about the daily life of Tom Holland. Just recently, the actor had been spotted knitting on a commercial flight to Budapest to visit girlfriend Zendaya, who's filming Dune 2.
As of now, the "Spiderman" star is currently slated for one more team-up movie under his contract in the Marvel cinematic universe. Holland has also begun filming earlier this year for Apple TV+ series "The Crowded Room".
