Zoe Kravitz 'Drawn' To Channing Tatum Before They Met? Actress Shares REAL Reason for Casting Boyfriend
With #Zanning going strong, the actress opens up on what drew her to dating the "Magic Mike" star.
Kravitz told WSJ Magazine that even before meeting Channing Tatum, she had already been interested in him, albeit not romantically, but for playing a role in her upcoming movie.
While casting for her thriller film "Pussy Island", which will be her debut as a director, Kravitz had been searching for someone to fill the role of Slater King, a tech mogul. Specifically, she wanted "someone who hadn't played a dark character before". Director Kravitz admits that the "21 Jump street" actor had been her "first choice" for the role.
"I felt, even from afar, before I knew him, that he was a feminist and that he wasn't afraid of exploring that darkness, because he knows he's not that," Kravitz explained, "That's why I was drawn to him and wanted to meet with him. And I was right."

From Casting Choice to Lovers
Little did the "The Batman" actress know that her casting choice would eventually bloom into romance. The two eventually developed a connection while working together on the film, then confirmed their relationship in October 2021.
The 42 year old actor told WSJ Magazine that he didn't know Kravitz before meeting her for the casting, but was excited to dive into the new role.
"It's always really intriguing to have someone bring you something that literally no one else has ever thought of you for." Tatum said.
Tatum told Deadline that he's looking forward to exploring Slater King's character, which he dubbed as "an extreme version" of himself. He holds Kravitz in high regard for the confidence she had for her vision during their first meeting. After dedicating their time to the film, the pair had grown closer in terms of friendship that bloomed into romance, and getting to know each other's work ethics.
"When you make things with people it's a very sacred space, and when you're compatible with somebody creatively it often opens up other channels, because you're kind of sharing all of yourself," Kravitz explained. "I'm really grateful that this movie has brought him into my life that way."
As of now, there have been no details on a release date but Kravitz recently shared photos of production that begun this year. "Pussy Island" will be a co-production between This Is Important, Free Association and Bruce Cohen Productions.
