Harry Styles Urged By Several Online Users To 'Stop Speaking' For Them – Here's Why
Harry Styles has recently received a lot of backlash for uttering a remark that truly grinds people's gears.
The 28-year-old actor chatted with Rolling Stone about his upcoming film "My Policeman," in which he plays a gay cop who hides his sexuality in the 1950s.
Harry remarked that most cinematic representations of homosexual sex include "two guys going at it."
It sparked outrage when he mentioned his wish to portray sensitivity in the film's love scenes.
"So much of homosexual sex in the film is two guys going at it, and it sort of eliminates the sweetness from it," remarked the "As It Was" singer, who also discussed his resistance to conform to a sexuality classification and his road to discovering out his sexuality.
"I would suppose certain individuals who see it who were very much alive at this period when being homosexual was outlawed, and [director Michael Grandage] wanted to portray that it's soft, caring, and sensitive," he continued.
Unfortunately for the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, fans chastised him for "speaking for LGBTQ people" while refusing to identify which community he belongs to.
One irate Twitter user suggested that Harry quit speaking on their behalf because he's solely interested in queerbaiting.
They went on to say that if the "Watermelon Sugar" singer doesn't want to name himself, they don't mind, as long as Harry Styles doesn't provide his thoughts on a community he doesn't even want to claim.
Another Twitter user stated that the British singer-actor is merely "codifying queer cinema," repeating Harry's earlier comment, and that it perplexes them because most homosexual movies they have seen are mostly about "tenderness, grief, and desire."
A third poste rdescribed Harry as a cis straight male who enjoys giving an unwelcome opinion on homosexual sex and joked that today was the perfect day for it.
In the same Rolling Stone interview, Harry Styles discussed the humiliation he felt from having his sex life published and analyzed when he was still attempting to comprehend it.
After facing backlash for queerbaiting and wearing gender-fluid ensembles while refusing to accept a sexuality classification, the "Fine Line" singer responded to reports that he hasn't gone public with anybody. Harry stated that just because their photo was shot in public does not imply that he is also choosing to have a public relationship.
Harry Styles can be seen next on "Don't Worry Darling," which is thriller movie directed by his girlfriend Olivia Wilde.
