Kanye West 'Did Nothing Wrong': Rapper Gets Away Scot-free After Allegedly Punching Fan
Kanye West will not be facing criminal charges after being accused of alleged battery for punching a fan.
In January this year, the "Praise God" rapper was under investigation for punching a fan who had asked for his autograph.
In a video from TMZ, it shows an aggravated West yelling at a woman on the scene, telling her to "get away from me!" while a fan laid on the ground, "Ain't no hands, ain't no hands."
From the leaked video, it appeared that the woman had kept asking West to give her his hand in an attempt to calm him down.
The situation had allegedly started with a fan asking for West's autograph while he was sitting in his SUV outside of a private club. A verbal argument had escalated into a physical altercation when the 45 year old musician punched the fan, who fell to the ground.
According to a spokesperson from the LA City Attorney's office, after careful review of all their evidence, their office is declining to file based on no reasonable likelihood of conviction.
Page six reports a statement from West's attorney, Michael Goldstein: "We are satisfied with this resolution as it recognizes my client did nothing wrong."
The Uncovered Truth: The Fan Was a Stalker
According to criminal defense lawyer Michael Goldstein, the fan had actually been following West on two different occasions to ask for an autograph.
"Video and photographs provided to the City Attorney's office confirmed that this particular individual followed my client to three different locations over a short period of time and ultimately waited for him at his hotel where he approached my client at 3 a.m. He once entered my client's personal space, which was unacceptable." Goldstein explained.
The Yeezy founder first encountered the fan outside of Craig's in Los Angeles, where he was dining to celebrate his Gap commercial with girlfriend Julia Fox, Antonio Brown and other friends. A few days later, the fan had appeared again when they were dining at Delilah.
The male fan remains unidentified, and no comments from the female staff in the leaked video have been given as well. In the event that the rapper had been charged with misdemeanor battery, he would be sentenced to jail for six months.
