Where Were Anne Heche's Remains Buried? Actress's Son Says Resting Place Is 'Serene'
Anne Heche reached her final resting place days after her tragic death.
On Tuesday, her family confirmed that Heche's remains had been laid to rest days after her life support was taken off. The report shared by USA Today divulged that the actress's ashes were sealed in the storied cemetery, Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
Heche and Laffoon's 20-year-old son, Homer, penned a statement to PEOPLE and Associated Press describing the cemetery as a beautiful and serene place. Heche was cremated before the family placed her ashes in the mausoleum.
"My brother Atlas and I want to thank Tyler, Noelle and all the amazing people at Hollywood Forever for their kindness, compassion and generosity of spirit," he said.
Homer added that he and the whole family knew that the late actress loves the place as she is among her Hollywood friends.
For what it's worth, the cemetery has been the venue for film screenings, festivals, and performances among Hollywood stars and performers.
With that, the son thinks that Hollywood Forever "is a living place."
The cemetery, which is near the Paramount Pictures lot, is currently home to the remains of Chris Cornell, Johnny Ramone, and Judy Garland, to name a few.
Anne Heche Fought For Her Life
Anne Heche got involved in a single-car crash on August 5. At that time, she drove her blue Mini Cooper until she came to a stop after hitting an occupied home.
The 911 calls obtained by news outlets revealed how people panicked after the crash, with one of them detailing how they were not able to rescue the woman - who was later identified as the actress - due to the fire that engulfed the vehicle.
The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the scene, but it took them more than an hour before they were able to pull her out.
It was revealed that Heche was still able to speak before losing consciousness. The first update revealed that she had a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation. The actress reportedly had burns that needed surgical intervention.
The injuries, unfortunately, put her into a coma.
On August 12, her family said she was no longer expected to survive hours before her she was declared legally dead following her brain death. However, she was still kept alive until August 14 to preserve her organs which were donated to her matched recipients.
The Los Angeles Police Department no longer investigates the crash although it found out that Heche was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.
