Sydney Sweeney Calls Out Critics on Mom's 'Hoedown' Birthday Party: 'Please Stop Making Assumptions'
"Euphoria" star Sydney Sweeney fires back on political critics on her mother's 60th birthday celebration theme, and fans are not happy with it.
On Saturday, the "Everything Sucks!" actress posted photos on her Instagram of Lisa Sweeney's 60th birthday celebration with a "surprise hoedown" theme. The images feature her family members in cowboy-themed costumes.
While Sydney and the rest of her family members look like they're having a blast at the rodeo, unfortunately, it seems like some fans don't seem to share the same sentiments. In the comments section of her brother's separate Instagram post, critics have noted that some hats of the party-goers read "Make Sixty Great Again" which is in reference to Donald Trump's slogan. Some critics also identified a "Blue Lives Matter" design worn by one of the male party-goers.
On Sunday, the 24-year-old actress took to Twitter and fired back at political critics, claiming that there was nothing more to her post than a family celebration. "You guys this is wild. An innocent celebration for my moms milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions," Sydney tweeted.

Sweeney Critics Won't Back Down
However, despite the clarification, critics are still pushing the narrative that the Sweeney family is "racist" due to propaganda in their attire. Fans have been speculating this claim since earlier this year on Twitter.
Some fans, however, choose to defend her in the thread replies, implying the possibility that the actress may have different political beliefs from her family.
Despite the negative criticisms that flooded her tweet, the "Euphoria" actress ended her tweet with "Much love to everyone and Happy Birthday Mom!"
Sweeney has not disclosed any support or affiliation with a political party, but she has expressed her views on "Black Lives Matter" in a tweet in 2020. As of now, none of her family members have commented on the controversy against the themed birthday celebration.
