Lisa Marie Presley is still experiencing a tragic heartbreak today, two years after her son Benjamin Keough's death, as she revealed that she blames herself every day for his passing.

The singer wrote an essay which was published on People Magazine to tell people the truth about grief on National Grief Awareness Day.

She shared her painful experience as people are commonly judged when a close family member dies in a "premature, unnatural, or tragic" way.

Beginning her piece, Presley said she already battled with and beat herself up after her son's death, and it's hard for her to live with it.

"Others will judge and blame you too, even secretly or behind your back which is even more cruel and painful on top of everything else," she added. (via Insider)

The songstress also noted how she blamed herself "every single day."

Benjamin Keough Cause of Death

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office who spoke to Fox News, Keough's cause of death has been determined as an "intraoral shotgon wound."

No foul play was involved in his passing as the examiner ruled his death "suicide."

Keough died in Calabasas, California, in July of 2020.

Days after his death, his friend Brandon Howard spoke out about the pressure the singer experienced when he was alive.

He noted that his good pal "sometimes" struggled with depression, and he's pressured to live up to the "Presley" family name.

"It's a tough thing when you have a lot of pressure with your family and living up to a name and an image. It's a lot of pressure," he added.

Keough was Presley and Danny Keough's son, making him the grandson of rock and roll legend Elvis Presley.

His family had been living in the limelight as his sister Riley Keough also works in the acting industry.

Despite his family's fame, Keough lived a lowkey life as he only has one acting credit under his belt for the short film "Rod & Barry." He also reportedly had a $5 million record deal in 2009.

Presley previously opened up about how her son had an uncanny resemblance with his grandfather, saying he was at the Opry where everybody "grabbed" him for a photo.
