Dionne Warwick Pokes Fun at Fans After Being Mistaken for THIS Celebrity
Dionne Warwick is the latest celebrity to get mistaken for after attending this year's US Open to watch tennis. The singer immediately took online to share the most hilarious response about the situation.
According to Fox News, the actress was mistaken for Gladys Knight on television by ESPN commentators Chanda Rubin and Mary Carillo as the legendary musician watched Serena Williams and Anett Kontaveit's match.
As the two sports personalities introduced her to viewers at home, the camera panned to Warwick and fans immediately shared their hilarious reactions online.
Warwick was a good sport as she also poked fun at the situation.
"Hi, I'm Gladys Knight... and instead of taking that midnight train to Georgia, I won't walk on by but will say a little prayer for you," she wrote along with a laughing and neutral emojis.
Rubin later corrected the announcement on social media, saying she was looking at the court and not their monitor that showed the singer.
Aside from Warwick, there were also several celebrities who attended the event like Laverne Cox, Zendaya, Tiger Woods, Jared Leto, and many more.
Dionne Warwick Isn't The First Celebrity to Cause Confusion During US Open 2022
In early reports, one particular celebrity stood out and went viral on Twitter after watching Serena Williams' match at the US Open.
The woman can be seen wearing a sheer black outfit with gloves and a black face mask. Many fans it was Beyoncé who watched the sporting event, but it was actually Laverne Cox.
Sharing her response online, the "Orange Is The New Black" actress wrote, "Not me getting mistaken for @Beyonce at the #USOpen tonight then trending on Twitter as the internet cackles over the mistaken identity. These tweets are funny as hell."
Many online users were divided as most of them thought it was indeed Beyoncé.
One fan wrote that her dad was "pissed" after failing to obtain passes to the big sports event especially when he found out that Beyoncé attended the game.
There were also people who were not fooled by Cox as they immediately recognized her.
This year's US Open marks Serena Williams' last time at the famed sporting event as she would retire from playing Tennis professionally.
